I like the analogy of climbing a ladder — you need to let go of one rung to reach for the next. This is true in life as well. The “letting go” can take many different forms. It can be letting go of people that are toxic to our growth, living situations, or employment.
There is also a psychological component that makes us hold on to things when we have invested more into them. For example, we hold on to unhealthy relationships after investing years of time and energy. We hold onto careers we don’t like after investing thousands of dollars on education and years of training.
Sometimes it is necessary to end one chapter in order to begin a new one . . . no matter how scary it may seem.
